The last time I shared the bedroom (not long ago really), I’d already ordered some new bedding, I was just waiting for it’s imminent arrival. I love my John Lewis bedding but it’s getting a bit old now and repeated washings mean it doesn’t look quite as good as it did when it first arrived. The bedding I’ve bought since then just never measured up and so I’ve been on the lookout for something a little different.
I finally found something I really liked. While you know I love a dash of colour, I decided a more tailored look was required seeing as I have quite a lot of pattern and colour going on already.
So a crisp white set with a simple black embroidered ribbon border was my answer. I’m clearly having a bit of a love affair with the combination of black, white and gold lately!
I purchased the bedding from The Linen Field – it’s their Belledorm The White Collection Madison Duvet set which isn’t exactly cheap but I think when it comes to bedding, you get what you pay for. Happily, in this case, it’s currently on offer at 20% off so ya know, every little helps. I’m all about a bargain.
People have asked me seeing as we have kitties, how I keep my white bedding free from cat hair. Well, as any cat owner will tell you, it’s not easy keeping on top of it! However, I use a small handheld Dyson vacuum cleaner (it’s this one) a few times a week. Pablo seems to always just sleep on the same corner of the bed so it’s literally a two minute job to run the little hoover over that bit of the bedding and job’s done. Obviously the bedding gets washed a couple times a month as well but at least it keeps the pet hair at bay in between.
So, while I still need to sort out the vignette on the chest of drawers and we still need to replace the carpet and the existing wardrobes, at least the bed is looking much better these days.
And yes, because I’m a complete saddo, I did iron the bedding before taking pictures of it.
I know what you’re thinking already…
Clearly, I need to get a life.
So, what do you think of the new duvet set? Any tips for keeping your home pet-hair free? Do you ever iron your bedding*?
*when it’s new out of the package, it’s all wrinkled – that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.
Ohh I love it! I looked for bedding like this but you really can't find it for cheap. Cat hair removal tip- put on a rubber glove and run your hand over it. Haven't tried it yet but I read it. Will use it for my couch. I am doing your nightstand hack on 2 3-drawer chests from Target… no Ikea close, and shipping was too expensive! -Kristen
I've heard that tip before but haven't tried it either! :) Ooh you'll have to let me know how you get on with your nightstand hack! Good luck! xxx
I love this bedding! So classic. And I'm obsessed with those leopard pillows!
I got them from Stuck on Hue on Etsy! I love love love those cushions ;) xxx
Very sophisticated and classic. Love it with your cushions. I avoid ironing wherever possible so after a tumble in the dryer I put on the bed warm and semi wrinkle free. I never put new, just out of the packet linen on the bed due to the size they use in manufacturing, I was once told it contains formaldehyde – Eeek!
I so need to get a tumble dryer! Hmm wonder if sleeping on formaldehyde sheets would make me look younger? ;) xxx
I iron all of my bedding – every single wash. Sorrynotsorry. x
Hahaha! Nice to know I'm not the only saddo out there ;) xx
Looks wonderful! We also rely on a handheld vac for the (exceedingly long) cat hair – totally worth it though, eh?
Definitely worth it! I love my white duvet far too much, I refuse to choose between my cats (whom I also love clearly) and my bed ;) xxx
I dont iron it! Call me lazy but frankly I dont have time for that in my life!! In fact I once had a White Company set that creased so badly I barely ever use it!
Hahaha! I've done that with clothing before, crazy enough – seems my priorities are a bit strange ;) xx
Haha this is hilarious. As someone who irons NOTHING, I obviously think this is crazy! Then again, those sheets are looking mighty crisp… ;)
Told you I needed to get a life!! ;) xx
I used to iron my guest room linens when my inlaws visited. Now I've been married 8.5 years, so these things have fallen by the wayside. :)
Hahaha! I have ironed the bedding when expecting guests but thankfully it doesn't happen too often ;) x
This is gorgeous!
Thank you!! :) xx
Just the question on my mind this evening, Having my own bedding line and living with new duvets every week. It's so important to wash them according to instructions and never tumble dry to high-and always iron for best look!! But if that's too time consuming dry clean. I wish I could come out with a line of wrinkle free bedding!
I wish the bedding I loved were wrinkle free as well! Alas, I do not own a tumble dryer so that means it hangs on the line – much nicer to be dried in the sunshine regardless ;) I do love your greek key bedding, though, Jill and have always loved your style – so nice for you to stop in for a visit! xx
I ironed our bedding once, but that's 'cause it was for an IKEA feature. In real life, I iron absolutely nothing. If my husband needs his shirts ironed, he knows where the iron is. But yes, I do have my moments where I'll drag out the iron for a photoshoot. Because OCD.

p.s. LOVE the black and white sheets. Mmmm, stripes.
I only tend to iron them when they are brand new (packaging wrinkles would have drove me mad) and considering I was going to be shooting them, it made sense to do it! But normally, I wouldn't bother, it's that damn OCD that gets me every time as well ;) xxx
Bwahahaha #aintnobodygottimefathat. But seriously though, im not a pet owner and I still iron my sheets. I usually wash them as soon I take them out of the packaging and I try to only dry them about 90% of the way and then let them air dry the other 10%, but I still end up giving them a quick ironing. I love the black stripes paired with your headboard and pillows. Gorgeous.
Your bedding and decor is gorgeous. :-)
