Now I’m no fashionist, don’t get me wrong here. And I’m not about to turn Swoon Worthy into a fashion blog with selfies and #OOTD hashtags. That’s just not my bag so fear not, there will be no duck pouts or pigeon-toed poses in this post.

However, I have realised as time has gone on that the way I dress and the way I decorate my home are really not that different. So I thought I’d have some fun today and share with you some of the accessories, cosmetics and clothing that I do wear and do love.

So take this post as a the fun it’s meant to be and go easy on me! I know my bold style – for both my home and my person – is not for everyone but it’s fun to share, right?

Now, I’m pretty obsessed with maxi dresses in the summertime so as a backdrop for each of my 4 looks, I’ve used four dresses that I adore. They are bold and fun and as a curvy hourglass, they hug my figure in a way that play up my strengths (big boobs small waist) and hide my flaws (big hips and thighs). Β I team them with heels and lots of gold jewellery for a night out or flip flops and a denim jacket for a daytime look. Easy peasy and no thinking – my kind of fashion.

So using my four frocks as backdrops, here they are…

Look 1: Turquoise and Leopard

The dress is from Jane Norman which I’ve had for a couple years now and remains a firm summer favourite. The clutch was from Asos and again, is a couple of years old but I love the alligator texture and the gold accents. Β I included Chanel’s Lift Lumiere here as well as it provides just enough coverage without being too heavy and makes your skin look really luminous.

These cute feather earrings were a gift from Eclectic Eccentricity – they hang quite long which is great for someone like me with long hair as you can still see them behind masses of waves!

I adore this necklace. It’s from New Look surprisingly but the natural colour mixed with gold is actually rather beautiful and is perfect when I have a bit of a tan! They don’t have this colour on the site any more but this one is quite similar.

The snake bracelet was from the Anna Dello Russo collection for H&M a couple years ago. It’s just so cool, I feel like a bit of a badass wearing it ;) I actually bought quite a few pieces in the collection (as you’ll see) and I always seem to reach for them for the edge they add to an outfit.

The Michael Kors watch was a gift from Wayne for my 40th birthday and I wear it with everything (I’d love a couple more to be honest)! The little leafy necklace in the tea cup is vintage from Hello Lovely Inc’s shop on etsy. Β The bead bracelets are from Β a trip to Lanzarote.

Look 2: Β Tropical Brights

Oooh this is such a fun dress from Jane Norman! The colours are just so saturated and really say SUMMER to me.

Another bracelet and turquoise drop earrings from the Anna Della Russo Collection! I know, I know, it was just one of those collections where I pretty much wanted it all. God this is starting to get embarrassing.

This necklace is worn like a choker and I’ve had it for years. The texture is so gorgeous, I rarely wear it with much else in the way of jewellery – it’s just one of those pieces that really stands on it’s own. The plain gold choker necklace is from Asos.

This bag is a few years old as well – I think it was originally from Asos but the bright orange and brassy gold on the sides and clasp work really perfect with this dress. Touche Γ‰clatΒ is another favourite product, always in my bag – you can’t beat it for brightening upΒ the under eye area. At the moment, because I have a little bit of colour (fake of course, I’m getting too old to be messing with lying in the sunshine for hours), my Mac Studio Fix creamy pressed powder is great for touch ups on the go.

Look #3 – Black and Bright

The dress is from boohoo.com. Β The gold sunglasses and huge turquoise wrist cuff were both from the Anna Dello Russo collection again!

The feather earrings are from Asos. I can’t remember where I got the leopard print bag but it does seem to go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe! Can never resist a bit of leopard print, can I!

The turquoise stretch bracelet was picked up in Barcelona on our holidays and the little spiked bracelet was from Misguided last summer. The knotted choker necklace is from Asos and the little feather pendant necklace (in the brass turtle) was from Eclectic Eccentricity. They have lots of really pretty items on their site and I love that they consider their jewellery for the ‘inquisitive of heart and enquiring of mind’!

I’m absolutely in love with the packaging of the Michael Kors makeup collection and this bronzer is the perfect mix of bronze and pink for a proper sun-kissed look. But the shiny gold compact? Oh be still my beating heart!

Look #4 – Yellow, Black & White

Another dress from Jane Norman – this time in a fun take on cheetah spots mixed with watercolour splashes. I like combining it with my zebra bangle and a mad chained pair of gold sunglasses – again from the Anna Dello Russo collection. Can you sense a pattern here? Indeed.

The leopard print belt was from a pair of jeans I bought but I tend to wear the belt more than the jeans! Curvy girls and jeans are a tough combo. The bold yellow necklace is from Anthropologie.

I’ve had the boho style white earrings for a while but can’t for the life of me remember where I purchased them! The Bobbi Brown foundation stick is something I’ve been using quite a bit lately as well. Great as a concealer as the coverage is quite good. I use a foundation brush to apply it so you can go heavier or lighter depending upon where you want and don’t want coverage.

The bright yellow clutch with gold trim is an old favourite as well. Ya know, as I am going through this post I realise that a lot of the pieces I regularly wear I’ve had for years. I suppose it’s like anything else – buy what you love and it’ll never go out of style!

I have to admit, I really enjoyed putting this post together. I’m not a stylist and I wouldn’t consider myself terribly stylish. I just know what I like (bold colour, lots of gold, plenty of pattern) and so when I shop, that tends to be what I end up going for. No surprise there really. But let’s be serious, here, if someone offered me Β£1000 to spend on my house or Β£1000 to spend on my wardrobe, OF COURSE I would take the money for the house. That’s just how I prioritise!

Were you surprised that my fashion is as bold as some of the choices I make in my home? Does your fashion and your home sometimes collide? Or is your style at home very different from your style of dress? If you had Β£1000 to spend on your home or your wardrobe, which would you choose? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!

Don’t miss a thing!
