So as I mentioned in my post on Friday, I finally got around to putting the finishing Christmas touches on the dining room this weekend.

You will have already seen my living room this Christmas which has been all decked out for a couple of weeks now. If you missed that little tour, you can see that here.

While I’m not one to decorate every room (I simply don’t have the room to store that many decorations so I try to keep it simple – well, as simple as a maximalist can manage!), I do like get these two rooms into the Christmas spirit seeing as we spend the most time in these spaces.

Thanks to a couple of fab blog collaborations with both Wayfair and John Lewis, I was able to keep spending to a minimum on decorations but these few items I received were enough to feel like I had a few new ‘toys’ to decorate with.

As in the living room, I kept the palette this year to white, black and gold and I have to admit, it’s probably one of my favourite colour combos – it’s just so classic and chic.

One of my favourite areas to decorate for Christmas (aside from the tree of course) is my mantle and this year was no different. I received an unexpected voucher as a gift from DotcomGiftShop (thank you lovely peeps!!) and spent them on this gorgeous set of white ceramic miniature houses. I’m absolutely positively besotted with them.

Paired with the little white and gold tree candle holders and little gold trees that I got in past years from Next, I feel like I’ve got a little forest next to a cute little village hanging out on my mantle. The gold taper candle holders are a bit splurge-y from John Lewis but obviously, I can use them all year long. The black candles are from Amazon (affiliate link) and were only Β£10 for a pack of 10.

The faux fur stockings were from Graham & Green about 3 or 4 years ago. Of course, mine is the leopard print one!

For the table, I kept things simple – the white deer I received from Wayfair (you can see the table setting I did for my curated sale with them here) and a gold and white runner I’ve had for a few years from Zara Home.

I’ll be sharing my (fully set) Christmas table on Wednesday so stay tuned for that and yep, it’s different from the Wayfair one! But this is basically what the room looks like on a day-to-day basis! ;)

For my bar cart, I strung some simple glittery holiday gift tags in my colour scheme from BHS (sadly, no longer on the website) through a black ribbon and added a few baubles and greenery.

I used my cranberry eucalyptus on the sideboard along with a little tray filled with a few bits and baubles to give it a bit of festive cheer.

I am also quite taken with the Christmas crackers (also from BHS) – gold and whites stripes and polkadots with ‘Snap’ and ‘Bang’ on little tags.

Wayne actually asked me if I added the tags myself but no, they were just this cute when I bought them. I almost don’t even want to ‘pull’ them and ruin them because they are just so lovely! I may need to hold back a few on Christmas Day ;) The polkadot one is very Kate Spade NY-esque, no?

For the console table, I felt like the ‘beach scene’ wasn’t reading very ‘Christmassy’ to me so I just covered the print with black and gold metallic wrapping paper (also from BHS!) which just worked really well with the design of the table itself. I simply cut the paper to fit the inside of the gold frame and then secured it with two sided tape. Pretty simple but effective I think.

I also added little baubles to the eucalyptus branches and to a couple of the glasses. You can never have too many baubles around at Christmas, right?

Finally, I added a couple of simple wreaths to the paintings either side of the television to finish it all off.

So that is my Christmas dining room! If you made it this far with the million and one photos, I’ll give you a big shiny fat Christmas star.

As I said, on Wednesday, I’ll be sharing my Christmas table setting so stay tuned for that! In the meantime, what do you think of the dining room decorations this year? How have you decorated your own dining room? Go on and share, the comment box awaits!
