Today was meant to be the BIG KITCHEN REVEAL. You have no idea how disappointed I am that I can’t quite do that today. The kitchen, for all intents and purposes, is finally complete – RAH! However, there is one missing piece to the puzzle.

The cooker hood we wanted was out of stock across every retailer and after waiting for two weeks, it finally came back into stock on Saturday. I ordered it for next day delivery, hoping against hope that it would arrive first thing on Sunday morning. While AO.com are pretty fab in terms of their delivery (and I’m not just saying that because I used to work for them – it’s genuinely true. Their delivery service is just second to none and I mean, they deliver on SUNDAYS), alas, it won’t be in until late afternoon/evening today as I write this post on Sunday morning. So there won’t be enough sunlight left at that point for me to shoot. Gutted is not the word.

And this is the thing about blogging through the winter in a Northern climate. We have shockingly short daylight and the daylight we do get is cold and blue and not especially forgiving even when it does come out. Dark clouds dominate most days at this time of year and trying to get nicely lit images is a constant struggle. So for that, I do apologise!

Our weather this week. Anyone want to give me a ticket to the Caribbean?

Our weather this week – dark cloud, dark cloud, dark cloud…. Does anyone want to give me a ticket to the Caribbean?

Instead, I thought I’d share a few more things I got to finish off the kitchen with a few sneak peeks in the process because a sneak peek is better than nothing, right?

So first off, these stunningΒ brass rails from Rowen & WrenΒ that have replaced my cheap and cheerful IKEA hacks. The previous ones were fine but when I saw these, I fell in love and just had to have them.

The bad news? The little balls on the end were too large to fit my gold utensils on so I had to forgo them where they hang on the opposite side of my kitchen and use the S hooks I already had instead. I wanted to cry when I realised (I know, totally #firstworldproblems) but at least I can use them for my mugs! They are so pretty and so well made and it makes me happy just making a cup of tea.

The lovely ladies at MiaFleur sent me a set of these beautifulΒ bamboo basketsΒ which in a smaller kitchen as we have, are a life saver. I will warn you, they are HUGE but super handy to store table linens and other bits and bobs I have no space for whilst looking pretty great on top of my cupboard and fridge. I love the natural texture they have but that black and white pattern just gives them a little more sass!

It may be weird to get excited by a bin but when I received myΒ flat back white bin from BrabantiaΒ I knew I found THE ONE. I had my old crappy chrome trash can for something like 12 years and it was time for an upgrade.

This thing is the Lexus of bins. Soft close top that doesn’t slam into my wall when it’s opened, hidden handles to remove the insert easily to change the liner and when you lift the lid manually, it actually STAYS UP. I mean, it’s the little things, right?

I also wanted to get some fresh new tea towels and these hammam beauties fromΒ The Future KeptΒ were the perfect simple touch. They are ethically woven in 100% cotton by Tunisian artisans and designed by Anna Buckland in Sweden and I adore the soft pattern as well as the fringes.

If you watch my Instagram stories, you will have seen that I recently took advantage of the 20% off coupon they offered via email and decided to purchase a set of 6Β Gold Rimmed Coupe Glasses from West Elm. Apparently, the story of the coupe glass being inspired by Marie Antoinette’s left breast is a myth but can we not just keep it alive a little while longer? I love that story. Anyway, I am deeply enamored by their soft green hand-blown glass and they feel beautiful in hand with a wonderfully satisfying weight. Alas, they are currently out of stock on West Elm’s website but I’m hoping they get them back in as I have my eye on the tumblers in this range as well. One could never have too many beautiful glasses, right?

And finally, I’ve been eyeing up thisΒ Marble & Brass Kitchen Towel roll holder from Ferm LivingΒ for such a long time that I figured it was time for a little splurge. For something that is normally so boring, it does add a little touch of glam with a marble base and brass holder which of course, I appreciate.

So while I can’t yet share the full reveal, I hope you like where it’s all headed and I promise it’ll be soon! Given the weather/light forecast this week, it’ll probably be next Monday so stay tuned! I’m so excited and I am utterly in love with my kitchen now so hopefully, the wait is worth it!

Have you purchased any pretty bits which are also rather practical for your home lately?

Disclaimer: Some of the items I have shared in this post were provided to me free for my review but as always, all images, words and opinions are entirely my own! I only work with companies I really like and think you’ll like too. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Swoon Worthy!
