Today was meant to be the BIG KITCHEN REVEAL. You have no idea how disappointed I am that I can’t quite do that today. The kitchen, for all intents and purposes, is finally complete – RAH! However, there is one missing piece to the puzzle.
The cooker hood we wanted was out of stock across every retailer and after waiting for two weeks, it finally came back into stock on Saturday. I ordered it for next day delivery, hoping against hope that it would arrive first thing on Sunday morning. While AO.com are pretty fab in terms of their delivery (and I’m not just saying that because I used to work for them – it’s genuinely true. Their delivery service is just second to none and I mean, they deliver on SUNDAYS), alas, it won’t be in until late afternoon/evening today as I write this post on Sunday morning. So there won’t be enough sunlight left at that point for me to shoot. Gutted is not the word.
And this is the thing about blogging through the winter in a Northern climate. We have shockingly short daylight and the daylight we do get is cold and blue and not especially forgiving even when it does come out. Dark clouds dominate most days at this time of year and trying to get nicely lit images is a constant struggle. So for that, I do apologise!
Instead, I thought I’d share a few more things I got to finish off the kitchen with a few sneak peeks in the process because a sneak peek is better than nothing, right?
So first off, these stunningΒ brass rails from Rowen & WrenΒ that have replaced my cheap and cheerful IKEA hacks. The previous ones were fine but when I saw these, I fell in love and just had to have them.
The bad news? The little balls on the end were too large to fit my gold utensils on so I had to forgo them where they hang on the opposite side of my kitchen and use the S hooks I already had instead. I wanted to cry when I realised (I know, totally #firstworldproblems) but at least I can use them for my mugs! They are so pretty and so well made and it makes me happy just making a cup of tea.
The lovely ladies at MiaFleur sent me a set of these beautifulΒ bamboo basketsΒ which in a smaller kitchen as we have, are a life saver. I will warn you, they are HUGE but super handy to store table linens and other bits and bobs I have no space for whilst looking pretty great on top of my cupboard and fridge. I love the natural texture they have but that black and white pattern just gives them a little more sass!
It may be weird to get excited by a bin but when I received myΒ flat back white bin from BrabantiaΒ I knew I found THE ONE. I had my old crappy chrome trash can for something like 12 years and it was time for an upgrade.
This thing is the Lexus of bins. Soft close top that doesn’t slam into my wall when it’s opened, hidden handles to remove the insert easily to change the liner and when you lift the lid manually, it actually STAYS UP. I mean, it’s the little things, right?
I also wanted to get some fresh new tea towels and these hammam beauties fromΒ The Future KeptΒ were the perfect simple touch. They are ethically woven in 100% cotton by Tunisian artisans and designed by Anna Buckland in Sweden and I adore the soft pattern as well as the fringes.
If you watch my Instagram stories, you will have seen that I recently took advantage of the 20% off coupon they offered via email and decided to purchase a set of 6Β Gold Rimmed Coupe Glasses from West Elm. Apparently, the story of the coupe glass being inspired by Marie Antoinette’s left breast is a myth but can we not just keep it alive a little while longer? I love that story. Anyway, I am deeply enamored by their soft green hand-blown glass and they feel beautiful in hand with a wonderfully satisfying weight. Alas, they are currently out of stock on West Elm’s website but I’m hoping they get them back in as I have my eye on the tumblers in this range as well. One could never have too many beautiful glasses, right?
And finally, I’ve been eyeing up thisΒ Marble & Brass Kitchen Towel roll holder from Ferm LivingΒ for such a long time that I figured it was time for a little splurge. For something that is normally so boring, it does add a little touch of glam with a marble base and brass holder which of course, I appreciate.
So while I can’t yet share the full reveal, I hope you like where it’s all headed and I promise it’ll be soon! Given the weather/light forecast this week, it’ll probably be next Monday so stay tuned! I’m so excited and I am utterly in love with my kitchen now so hopefully, the wait is worth it!
Have you purchased any pretty bits which are also rather practical for your home lately?
Disclaimer: Some of the items I have shared in this post were provided to me free for my review but as always, all images, words and opinions are entirely my own! I only work with companies I really like and think you’ll like too. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Swoon Worthy!
Such a tease! Im more excited for the reveal then I am for xmas! Love those glasses!
Hahaha! I’m DYING to share, believe me! Cooker hood was installed tonight (bless my other half for being as impatient as I was) and so keep your fingers crossed for a bright day to shoot pics! lol xx
Absolutely gorgeous!!
Ahh thank you Michelle! Can’t wait to share the whole thing! xx
Oh swoon, what a gorgeous selection. You won’t regret that Brabantia bin. I’m like their biggest fan. I love their bins, and it’s worth buying the bin bags too as they fit perfectly. I so can’t wait for the final reveal. So exciting!!
I love my bin more than is reasonable! Hahaha! It’s amazing! Thanks for the tip on the bags, I wasn’t sure if it’d be worth it but saw you can buy them in bulk from Amazon ;) xx
That’s my tea towel! Haha! Oh, it’s really coming together and looking gorgeous! Getting excited about a bin made me laugh – mainly because I totally recognise that behaviour ;-) Really looking forward to seeing the whole thing! xo
Oh we’re tea towel twinsies now! Hahaha! And yes, totally obsessed with my bin – never thought I’d say that ;) Can’t wait to share the whole space – I need a bright day dammit!! xx
Oh no, what a shame! Looks fab so far though- gutted about the utensils, still, the mugs look fab anyway! x
Wayne installed the cooker hood this evening when he got home from work, bless him! So we’re good to go – just need some decent weather to shoot now ;) Honestly, I could have cried when those utensils didn’t fit!! Ha!! Love the baskets though, thank you again! xxx
Lots of lovely touches in your kitchen and I love all of the gold accents x
Aww thank you Jenny! xxx
The wall paper at the back of the cupboard looks good, I really like it, the plates look well against it. The basket is a great idea, and looks stylish as well. It’s all coming together.
What’s that plant you have on the top of your cupboard, it looks like a Goose Foot, dose it grow there?.
At least the weather report this week is not showing snow like we got last week lol, I hope that’s all we are getting. xxx
Aww thanks Pauline! The plant is a Sweetheart Plant (or a Philodendron Scandens) – it’s got the cutest heart-shaped leaves! Ughh no snow yet please – I’ve already had enough of the miserable weather lately ;) I’m counting down to Spring here – haha! xx
Your excitement over the Brabantia is NOT silly – I had one of these in my old London apartment and it was a godsend. Loved it! x
Honestly, it’s the nicest bin I’ve ever had! Hahaha! Nice to know I’m not the only one who can be obsessed with something so mundane as a bin! ;) xx
Loving all the selections so far, anticipating the reveal. Have a GREAT week!!!
Thanks so much Lory! You too hun! xx
I love your Brass rail with the hooks on, and by looking at it, why don’t you add some brass hooks so can mix up your utensils on there too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/272284592357?lpid=122&chn=ps&adgroupid=27378760866&rlsatarget=pla-181484316546&adtype=pla&poi=&googleloc=9044955&device=c&campaignid=620865095&crdt=0
Ahh thanks Paul! That is in fact what I’ve done – the utensils hang on the other side of this worktop (to the left of the oven) and I used the same rail as you see here, but just with the S hooks I had previously :) You can see them here (although the kitchen is now looking dramatically different as you can imagine considering we’ve been working on a remodel!) :)

Everything is so so pretty! I might have to get those glasses
It looks so beautiful and full of lovely colours. I really love those teatowels, popping on my wishlist right now! x
You’ve done it again and this kitchen looks so fabulous now. I might just have to purchase some of those beautiful tea towels and the gold rimmed glasses. And maybe that copper mug too. And the one that says ‘go wild’. Okay maybe all of it.
Is it weird that I know exactly what you mean about the bin? Never cared at all about it before, but then I saw THE ONE last week and had to have it.
I love that marble pedestal for your citrus! Where did it come from?
