Apparently this was designed from the scraps of pleated paper that is produced in mass amounts during the process of making pleated fabric, and usually abandoned as an unwanted by-product.

The designers state: “This primitive design responds gently to fabrication and distribution costs and environmental concerns, the kinds of issues that face our 21st century selves. Thus, the cabbage chair fits active, optimistic and forward-moving ’21st century people'”

Whilst I am absolutely all for recycling, I’m just thinking this looks a wee bit uncomfortable. Maybe that’s what they mean by active (you would have to move off it quite quickly if you’d like your bum to not go numb) and forward-moving (see reason for active).
Would you be happy to sit in this for 2 1/2 hours watching Avatar in your living room?
Your WTF Moment brought to you from here via here.
I am loving your WTF posts. The moment I swa it, I inwardly cried,
Dear God, WHAT is that.
I think it would hurt my posterior. Oh, how I laughed. xx
It's more of a perch than a chair, sin't it? Hmmmm. And where would it go? They're enoooormous!!

And what look would it go with?

It seemes a bit fussy to be modern, and too edgy to be country.

It's a big thumbs doooooown from me!!!

Plus, I dread to think how quickly my children would pick it apart! Haha!!

Sxxxxxxxx
Hahaha! I'm thinking of making it a regular feature! Glad to hear you have been entertained ;) xx
I applaud their ingenuity but it's neither practical nor beautiful! Egads…

And I love what you said about the children! I'd probably do it myself sat their bored with my bum going numb! xxx
I think it is more of an artpiece that celebrates recycling rather than something useful or practical for the home – bearing in mind that art is subjective! Not my kind of thing at all, it looks like an uncomfortable alternative to a bean bag!

Loving this WTF Moment segment! :)

Meera xx
Umm in a word no! Extremely random – cant see this chair fitting in anyones house!! Unless perhaps if you lived in place like the teletubbies??!

Love this WTF post too – made me laugh!!
Rachie xo
wtf. i can't have this in my house.

it is reminiscent of corn husks. i have issues with corn husks. :)

as a child of the 70s, everywhere i turned (in the midwest) there was another corn husk doll and they scared me to death.

i have enough anxiety, actually live in corn country, and need minimal terrifying corn husk art, thank you.

BUT GREAT POST!<
