So if you checked out my post on Monday, I created a little video sharing some of the very excellent finds at John Lewis when I did a bit of impulse shopping.Β In that video, I also promised I would share with you where all those little bits and bobs ended up in my home and so that’s what I’m going to do today!
You can check out the video here!
Strangely, most of what I found myself buying were things for the bathroom and it became clear to me that I was craving a little bit of a refresh of the space. Not much has changed in there since our remodel was completed last year but shaking up the accessories on the shelves felt really good and I love how they ended up.
So… my Lilly Flame fragrance diffuser, the Plum & Ashby hand and body lotion and the Animalier leopard print soap all found their homes on the little shelving unit.
The shelves are a bit too tiny for a tray so I decided to use a couple of vintage Chinese-design plates I had to hold the pretty soap, a posh tube of body butter as well as act as a catch-all for my jewellery.
I’m loving the hand lotion as well and now I think I might go back and buy the hand soap too!
Can I just say that the fragrance diffuser is LUSH? Oh my god I want to hang out in the bathroom all the time just because it smells so fabulous in here (now that’s something I never thought I’d say)!
I also decided to add some dried Chinese lanterns to the very top of the shelf for some added colour.
And I moved a couple of vases into the space below and filled my geometric vase with some little blooms from the garden. The animal print vase is from Zara Home and the geometric one is from Whimsy & Wilbur.
Moving on to the dining room, the gold peanut has found a home on the console table. I do like to swap things out here fairly often and it wasn’t long ago that it was changed so it was just a matter of moving a few thingsΒ around.
If you follow me on Instagram, you will have already seen that amazing gold fan I picked up at Tesco (yes, seriously) for a mere Β£20. As soon as I saw it, I snatched it up even if it is too chilly to use right now! Oh and for those of you who love copper, it comes in that finish as well. This is why it’s totally worth checking out the home sections of your supermarkets – you just never know what pretty little bargains you may find.
And finally in the living room, my gold lobster is currently just hanging out on my coffee table. I might end up moving him somewhere else but for now, I kind of wanted to be able to see him every time we sit to binge watch whatever the latest thing on Netflix is.
Also, I know it’s still summer but I couldn’t help throwing this white goat hide from Joss & Main on my hoop chair. I just love the texture it adds to the room. My favourite time of day is first thing in the morning in here when the sunlight streams in. It’s just such a lovely feeling so I thought I’d share.
Anyway, so that’s where everything ended up in my home that I purchased from John Lewis!
Quickie question… Do you like this kind of format – in terms of combining a video with a blog post? I’d like to tie in any video content because I don’t want them to be totally stand alone things hanging out on YouTube, I really want them to compliment the blog and allow you to understand how and why I do what I do! If you did like the blog post/video tie in, please do let me know! And if not, well, if you have any suggestions for what you’d prefer to see, then I’m happy to take them into consideration too :)
In the meantime, what do you think of the little refreshes in the bathroom, dining room and living room? I’d love to hear from you!
gorgeous! yes to liking the accessories and yes to the format.
What else would I like? how ’bout a video walk round parts of your house? (not easy I know, I tried it once and the play back looked like I was really drunk!) I’d also like to see you actually place items in your vignettes and talk about it as you do it? But it is all good, your house is beautiful! have a good weekend.
Yay! Thanks so much Afa! I actually am planning to do a styling video very soon so stay tuned for that! A walking tour is possible but the house is never all looking good at the same time – ha! There’s always at least one part that’s in chaos (but maybe that’s a good thing?! #keepingitreal) ;) xxx
Hi Kimberly, yes i really do like a video followed by a blog post, its a good follow on, it makes it more interesting. (Nice to see the sunshine through your windows lol, i didn’t realise what it was at first, it’s that long since we’ve had any) xxx
Aww thanks Pauline! I know, right? The sun was gone the following day, followed by torrential downpours. Sigh. xxx
I think it’s a great idea to show us what you pick up/ why you pick it up and how it translates into your vignettes.
Your bathroom looks great too! Have a good weekend!
Aww thanks Jessica! Hope you have a fabulous weekend yourself my dear :) xxx
Isn’t it crazy how minor changes here and there make the room feel like a different space! Loving the new accessories. The leopard soap is so sexy! And, I have the same shower curtain in our second bathroom upstairs!! Great minds think alike. =)
Yay for being shower curtain twinsies! :D Have a fab weekend darling! xxx
I love this format, it’s nice to see where you shop. I too, often find awesome stuff in supermarkets/pound shops and people look at me funny when I tell them where I got it! I like having you describe them, their prices etc. There are several blogs I have stopped following recently because the things they were buying just seemed way out of my league, so it’s nice to know I could buy something I’ve seen on your blog if I wanted to :)
In general, I would love a blogging post on growing your audience :)
Aww thanks so much Linda for your lovely comment! And yes, I totally know what you mean – especially reading American blogs and I’m dying because I can’t purchase any of it, it’s so frustrating – so finding cool stuff at great prices at shops you just wouldn’t think of? It’s gold mine stuff :D And thanks for the suggestion, I will see if I can cover that in a future post! xxx
I love the video with the follow up blog post. Keep it up. I also would like a walk around video house tour. You got my vote!
Ahh thanks for the suggestion Sandy! Next time the house isn’t in a total state of chaos, I may just do that! Ha! ;) And THANK YOU for the vote, that means a lot to me! Mwah! xxx
All lovely refreshes. Yep, I need a gold peanut and a gold lobster. Basically just dip anything in gold and I am sold! xo
Me too! I have to totally resist the urge to just buy ALL THE GOLD THINGS. xxx
I love all these pictures – gorgeous!!! The bathroom shelf styling is looking so delectable. It’s all so great, arrgghhh.. too.. much.. prettiness!
I personally liked watching the video of your haul and then getting to come back and see the pretty pictures of the items in their new homes. I like that the video tied into a more ‘normal/usual’ post, if you see what I mean. It’s a good formula!
xx
Hands down the best designer! I love how you incorporate different types of pieces in your space!
Wow. you are making me love something I never fancied before…
