Well, I had planned on sharing a little Christmas gift DIY with you today but my printer decided to die on me and then the dark rainy weather had other plans for my shoot so it looks like that post is going to be delayed until Friday! So in the meantime, I did a little reshuffle on my console table in the dining room and figured instead I’d do a quickie post sharing that today.
I always seem to sit in the same chair in the dining room (you have your ‘spot’ too, right?) and it directly faces this wall and so it tends to get more attention than most surfaces of my home simply because I’m constantly looking at it. After I received someΒ new pieces from John Lewis as I shared on Monday’s post, I decided to incorporate a few of them in the vignette.
I went with a loose ‘entertaining’ theme – fitting I suppose for a dining space – which allows some of my favourite pieces to get a little more attention than just sitting in the kitchen shelving. I do a lot of swaps with the open shelving, the bar cart and this console table – it keeps everything in rotation and I get a fresh new look without worrying about having to purchase anything.
Wondering what it looked like before? Click here.
I kept the cranberry eucalyptus because it just adds so much lovely height but swapped out the vase to this old favourite – a sort of animal print one I got a couple years ago from Zara Home. I think I’ve used it in nearly every room in my home! It just adds a lovely neutral touch and there’s a wonderful movement in the print, I adore it.
This gold pineapple was a gift from my friend Carole so I figured I’d take off the top and fill it with my favourite gold cutlery to add a bit of ‘bling’ which balances out my gold cobra on the opposite side.
I stacked up my gold plates – the ones from John Lewis as well as my gold rimmed Christmas plates and then topped them with a couple little leopard print plates, also old, also from Zara.
In the centre, I gathered my favourite (empty, I have no shame) bottles of spirits, my set of vintage wine glasses and a little vintage crystal sugar bowl into a mirror and brass tray that I’ve had for ages.
And finally, two of the amber cocktail glasses (also JL) flanking the centre. I got a set of 6 of them but they are so large, I could only fit 4 on my bar cart so the additional ones came to live here!
So this is the finished look! I think it’s suitably festive without screaming ‘CHRISTMAS’ but will still lend itself to a few sparkly touches once I’m ready for full-on decorating. It’s a ‘pre-Christmas’ vignetteΒ I guess!
What do you think of the new look? Are you zhushing up your home before full on decorating begins?
Looking fabulous. Love the gold sparkle.
Thank you Marty! Can never have enough gold – ha! ;) xxx
Wow that looks gorgeous, love the colours.
Love this, I’m such a fan of gold. The gold cutlery is fabulous and everything just comes together really well.
What a glam vignette. Love the golden touches and all the colours.
Lol, my first thought was you’re going to need to re-stock your whisky before Christmas! What’s the one with the little gold jockey on top? I shouldn’t pick whisky by the packaging, but…miniature gold horse!!
Love everything about this sideboard, so elegant and perfectly balanced. I would be doing this to my home if I were not trying to fit a new bathroom which is frankly taking far more time and throwing up way more problems than we thought. :-(
Is the gold tray holding the bottle John Lewis? I love it.
Well with Christmas coming, it looks like it’s probably going to be restocked to a certain extent! I just love those bottles so I tend to keep them even after their magic elixir is gone ;) The one with the jockey (and yes, we bought it for the packaging although it’s nice enough to drink too) is Blanton’s Gold Edition – so cute, no? The gold tray is from An Angel at My Table and they still stock them!

Good luck with the bathroom – I know how challenging those can be, don’t envy you!! xxx
Stunning Kimberly! LOVE the navy blue wall as a backdrop to all the gold bling, it really helps add a chic sophistication to the scheme. And that Pineapple is divine – great idea to fill it with cutlery! xx
Luxe. Love it! Also, the deep blue with the gold with the blood red. So rich and saturated.
So THAT’s how you spell “zhushing”!! I must have spent about 20 minutes trying to work it out for my last post and ended up going with the word make-over **sigh**
Love all your pieces. That pineapple is just a bit spesh. Fab styling!x
Love it! The use of animal print is the icing on the cake. I am in full swing decorating for Christmas. I have guest coming for Thanksgiving and I would love to share a bit of both Holidays with them.
Lovely! But what I really want to know is where you got the beach print! I’ve been looking for something similar for a client for aaaaaages and can’t find exactly what I’m after.
Ahh I got that from Art.co.uk a few years ago and I’ve never been able to find it again on the site! It’s probably there somewhere though, you might have to do a bit of digging but they do have some nice beach prints as alternatives! Failing that, try https://www.graymalin.com/ ;) xxx
Oh, I love it!!! Especially your JL coctail glasses. So chic!! The only thing I couldn’t have is the snake. It gives me chills. But that’s because I have snake phobia. Lol. xx
Beautiful styling as always, Kimberly. I have a gold pineapple just like that which is a candle. Now I know what to do with it when the candle is spent, thank you! :-)
This one was a candle as well! ;) I wasn’t about to get rid of it though – ha! xxx
Your console table looks good, i love the eucalyptus, the colour is so vibrant. I have started to do little bits and pieces, i find it better than trying to do it all at once. I have started my Christmas box, its a big box i have that i start to fill with goodies like chocolate and wine, sweets, biscuits, i find it easier, and i’m not stressing when i go shopping. Xxx
Thanks for sharing – graymarlin is brilliant!
He is isn’t it?! Too bad I can’t afford his stuff! LOL! xxx
Lovely! I adore it all, Kimberly!!!
Oh, this is so beautiful! I’ve had my eye on a set of gold cutlery by an Irish designer and this pretty much confirms my need for pretty gold stuff. I can so picture you quoting Gold Member while writing this post “I like goooooooooold” ;)
So beautiful. And that cranberry eucalyptus, I need dat. Or maybe regular eucalyptus? It would look so nom with burgundy walls. You are causing cogs to turn.
Ooooh yes to the gold cutlery!! JUST DOOOO IT. xxx
Hi Kimberley. All looks amazing. I wonder if you can tell me please where you got your leopard print plates? Also, elsewhere on your site I have seen your flush ceiling light in your hallway, where did you get that from please?
Thanks! Love your blog x
Hi Dawn, thanks so much! The little plates are from Zara Home but they are probably about 5 years old now – so sorry! The ceiling light – I’m not sure which one you mean (I don’t have any flush lights! ;)) but the white one is really old (like 15 years old old) and the black one is from B&Q :) Not sure if that helps!! xxx
Thanks so much for your speedy reply. I will have to keep a look out for those plates, they are fab! Always good to have ideas of which stores to look in anyway, so thanks. The light was in one of the photos in how to introduce leopard print, looking at it again, I don’t think it is your hallway, it is a photo you have used from someone else, ooops! my mistake. I really love your style and although our home is not done in the same style I am getting some lovely ideas and introducing little touches. Love it! x
Aww yes that makes sense! That hallway is gorgeous (I WISH mine looked like that – I was a little confused as we haven’t touched ours yet and the lighting is nothing special! Ha!) ;)
Thanks so much for your kind words, though, that is so nice to hear! Mwah! Have a fab week, Dawn xx
