Normally, my tree is up by the first week in December. This year, it was the 10th of December before I actually got around to putting mine up – which is SO unlike me. There are quite a few extenuating circumstances around this but to summarise, we’ve been storing some large pieces of furniture and appliances for my Mother in Law as she was going to be moving into a new flat. Due to some delays, it took a bit longer than we’d expected and my office (my usual ‘sorting and storing area’ for my Christmas decor) was full to the brim with things. Living in a house with quite limited space, I simply had nowhere to empty my loft of Christmas boxes – including my tree! So we had to wait a little longer than normal.

However, while my MIL is moving fairly soon, Wayne (bless him) rearranged our shed to move some things into there, freeing up a bit of space for me to get my Christmas decorating on. So it was with great relief that I finally got my tree up and I’ll apologise now for the amount of pictures I’ve taken. Buckle in, pour yourself a nice eggnog or a stiff warming drink and settle in…

My flocked tree is around 3 years old now but I still adore it. This year, I decided to mix gold and copper and I threw in a tiny bit of red (so unlike me to do traditional colours!) as well because it just worked so well with the burgundy colours in this space. All these warm colours make it a really inviting space, I think!

I picked up a few new gold accents for my tree in my local garden centre. I fell in love with these glittery gold … uhhh…erm… I have no idea what they are really! Wheat sheaves maybe? But whatever they are, they are really soft and drapey and I love how they cascade down my tree.

I also mixed in a few copper accents, a set of string balls that light up in copper, gold and silver and a smattering of deep red baubles that I’ve had for years. Plus of course, all my glass and glittery baubles from years’ past.

I always split my little round vintage side table that normally sits in this bay window to create two little display areas on either side of the tree. I’ve got to get creative in a smaller space and I like that it affords me the opportunity to create some tiny vignettes.

I bought a pair of those tall gold glitter trees in my local Morrison’s (of all places!) for a fiver each. You’d be surprised what you can find at some of the supermarkets these days so it’s worth keeping an eye out for interesting pieces at ridiculously good prices.

I kept the sofa quite simple – a couple of deep burgundy velvet cushions to tie in with the colours in the wallpaper and curtains and a simple gold sequinned cushion from H&M for a bit of sparkle. A goat’s hair throw over the back of the sofa gives it a bit of a boho touch too.

On my coffee table, I kept the gold with a touch of copper theme going. The little gold apple and pear are actually candles from H&M Home (on sale for Β£2.50 each! I mean, they might as well just be free at that price) and I’m rather in love with them.

There’s also a copper candle holder from Tom Dixon which I received in my Amara Interior Blog Awards goodie bag. I love how it refracts the light in the evenings – it simply glows. I also filled a little gold box with baubles to make it a little more ‘Christmassy’.

The teacup and saucer are also from H&M. I couldn’t resist the blushy-pink and gold stripe combo on this set. Beautiful, no? At a mere Β£8 for the set, it was kind of a no-brainer. I’ve been looking at pretty mugs to replace all of the ones I’m not too crazy about in my collection lately and I think these may be my new favourites.

On the other side of the room, the radiator cover got dolled up with a garland and candles and the chest of drawers got a new vignette.

I love how the mirrors reflect the light from the tree around the space. It’s so hard taking pictures of the mirrors so you’ll have to trust me on that one. The reindeer tealight holder is from HomeSense.

On the top of the vignette, I filled a little gold wire box with pinecones and used another of those white LED Christmas trees from Rockett St George in the corner to give the space a little bit of sparkle. The little gold bowl (another H&M Home find) is simply filled with tiny gold and copper coloured baubles.

My favourite new baubles are from West Elm – this gorgeous pink and gold diamante beetle as well as a beautiful gold and glass lobster. I am so in love with these that I might now have to get a few more quirky baubles like this in the future. I just think they look so fun on the tree.

As you can see, I wanted to share a few of the pics that were taken in the evening because I think the tree just looks so magical at night!

I also picked up a set of 3 of these pretty geometric baubles at HomeSense.

If you watched my Instagram Stories, you’ll have seen that Meisha has basically commandeered this spot under the tree as her own. I’m sure she thinks I do all this stuff for her benefit alone.
