We’ve spent the last few months in the midst of a construction site. Building work on your home is messy, stressful and chaotic and while I’m so happy we’re finally doing the work we’d planned since we moved into our home, a break from all the dust was something we decided we desperately needed. When The Swan Hotel & Spa in Newby Bridge got in touch to see if we’d like to try out their facilities for a few days, we jumped at the chance.

The Swan Hotel Newby Bridge Lake District Cumbria

If you followed along with my Stories on Instagram (it’s saved to a highlight if you missed it), you’ll know we spent 3 days and 2 nights being wined and dined and essentially spoiled rotten during our stay. The best part is that at the end of this post, I’m sharing a super generous discount with you so you can enjoy a midweek stay just like we did!

The hotel is nestled in the southern tip of Lake Windermere and the surrounding countryside is rather spectacular. We’d visited the Lake District in the past but we realised it had always been over the winter months so to visit during Spring and while the sun was shining was such a lovely experience.

The Grounds and Hotel

Swan Hotel Newby Bridge outside

The hotel itself is a beautiful building that faces the River Leven which flows from Lake Windermere. It’s a lovely quiet sanctuary surrounded by countryside with its own marina.

River Leven swan Hotel

Running along the river, the Swan has taken full advantage of this fantastic location with plenty of seating all along the water to enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the ducks go by.

Swan Hotel Interior

Inside the hotel, the decor is a gorgeous mix of patterns (I spotted a lot of Designer’s Guild fabrics!) and bold colours. I love that the decor is not your typical bland standard hotel – there are plenty of comfy areas to lounge and beyond the window seen above is a large swimming pool for guests and a gym.

There’s even a pink pool table!

Vu Spa at the Swan Hotel Lake Windermere

While we were there, we were able to take advantage of the gorgeous Spa as well. While I didn’t take any pictures during our treatments, I had the Full Body Algae Wrap and Wayne had the Full Body Swedish Massage. We both LOVED our treatments and it was such a nice treat during our stay (and we both went back to our room to crash afterwards, we were SO relaxed!). There are so many different kinds of treatments available from a quick mani/pedi to face, body and head massages, wraps and treatments. Definitely worth a visit!

The Love Nest

The Swan Hotel has plenty of rooms within its facilities but tucked away at the back of the expansive property is what they call ‘The Nests’ which are private self-contained cottages.

The Nests at the Swan Hotel

They are still very much treated as part of the hotel with room service available and plenty of amenities so you really are getting the best of both worlds. We stayed in ‘The Love Nest’ which is for 2 people but the other Nests are larger so you can have anywhere from 4-8 stay at a time, perfect for families or groups. In the image above, you can see the larger nests but the small building at the right was our own little home for a few days! The Love Nest is really rather special in that it’s completely separate not only from the hotel but also from the other ‘nests’.

Love Nest Outside Swan Hotel

With its own small patio and firepit, it really does feel completely private and the view from the patio and large glass doors that span across the back is really quite spectacular.

View from the Nests at the Swan Hotel

We had ‘visits’ every day from grouse and rabbits (and a cheeky cat who was obviously a pretty rubbish hunter but still fun to watch).

Love Nest Swan Hotel

Inside, there is a large open plan space which accommodates a lovely smartly dressed kitchen (with pink worktops and an induction hob!), a living room area, a bedroom area and a large bathroom, complete with a pink roll top bath. The style is whimsical and fun with plenty of feminine accents but luxury and quality are evident in everything around you.

Inside the Nest Swan Hotel

The Swan truly spoiled us on our arrival, with fresh bread, orange juice, thick cut bacon, eggs, two thick cuts of cake in the fridge and to our surprise, a chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc and two glasses delivered by hand to our door! High-speed wifi, a Sonos speaker and plenty of amenities make it so easy to settle in and relax right away.

The bed was incredibly comfortable as well with Egyptian cotton sheets and fluffy pillows and the bathroom is well stocked with luxury bath products. There’s even a little pink dressing table and mirror where I got myself ready in the mornings.

Swan Hotel His and Hers Showers and Sinks

On our first night, they brought us wood and fire lighters for the fire pit too and nothing was too much trouble. They really have thought out every last detail!

We could have very happily just hung out in the Nest the entire time, taking in the views and enjoying all the luxury on hand but the Swan has plenty more on offer.

The Restaurant and Bar

Dinner at the Nest

For our first night, we arranged to have dinner right in our Nest (well, we did want to take advantage of our amazing space!) where a gorgeous feast of lamb, couscous and pita bread were delivered to our room and washed down with chilled wine. The food was fantastic and plentiful.

Swan Hotel Restaurant

Dinner at the Swan Hotel

On our second night, we had dinner and drinks in the main restaurant. As you can see, the fabrics and colours of our room carried over to the restaurant with floral fabrics, deep blue walls and tufted seating make for a very comfortable and relaxing space.

gin cocktails

We were also invited to enjoy a few of their speciality Gin cocktails during our stay. We are not big gin drinkers normally but the combination of flavours meant we genuinely enjoyed every single glorious combination they served which is a real testament to the skills of the bar staff. Of course, there is plenty of choice in drinks at the bar and they can serve up just about anything you desire.

Exploring Holker Hall

Holker Hall

The Swan also arranged for us to visit Holker Hall during our stay, an incredible estate and award-winning garden with an indulgent food & gift shop, an incredible restaurant and plenty of beautiful scenery. It only took around 15 minutes for us to drive there.

While I could do a whole separate post on our visit (I seemed to have taken 150 photos – whoops!) I figured I’d just share a small selection here! It’s a lovely spot to visit while at The Swan and I’d highly recommend a popping over there too even if just to check out the staggeringly beautiful gardens.

We had a gorgeous 3-course meal at the restaurant as well which was simply incredible and made with local ingredients as well as from their own grounds.

Holker Hall Food

Of course, I chatted through our entire stay over on my Instagram so if you aren’t already following me there, please do! Simply click on the highlight ‘Swan Hotel’ on my profile page to watch all my Stories of our incredible time there.

A Special Discount for Readers!

Finally, the Swan has been so incredibly generous not just to me but to you too! Yay! You can get a 40% discount (yes, I said 40%!!) on a 2 night mid-week stay (Sun-Thurs) just by using the code SWOON40! The discount can be applied between 1st June 2019 and 18th July 2019. Click Here to Book!

A huge thank you to the staff of the Swan Hotel and Holker Hall for giving us such a wonderful experience and one we won’t soon forget! Would you visit the Swan? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Disclaimer: This was a complimentary press trip provided by The Swan but as always, all views, words, opinions and images are my own. I wouldn’t recommend something unless I really loved it and we had an amazing visit – we’d happily go back again as paying customers! Thanks so much for supporting the brands that support Swoon Worthy.

Ad (Press Sample) There are few kitchen products that are considered absolute classics but there is one that I have lusted after for YEARS and that is the utterly iconic @lecreusetuk large casserole pot. 🤩

For nearly a century, Le Creuset has been trusted for its superior performance, lasting quality and iconic design and the enamelled cast iron allows incredible versatility - not only can you use it with just about any heat source (from induction, glass, electric etc), you can also do everything from stir-fry to slow cooking to baking a cake in it and more.

So, imagine my delight when Le Creuset got in touch to ask if I'd like to shoot their brand new colourway 🍑 Pêche 🍑 in my kitchen. I mean, there couldn't be a more perfect colour match with that juicy coral shade which if you've followed my account for any length of time, you'll know is one of my all-time favourites (not to mention that beautiful soft gold knob! 😍). The matching petite casserole dish and mugs are the perfect companions but you could easily mix and match this colourway with Le Creuset's other designs (Might I suggest the Sea Salt, a soft blue-green which would be gorgeous with Pêche). This new juicy summer shade is currently available exclusively at Le Creuset Official. I'd love to know which colourway is your favourite in the range?

I've really loved making these pretty reusable Christmas crackers! I'm still in the process of finding cute bits for filling them but they'll definitely be a centrepiece for my table this year!🎄💕

Suggestions for what to fill them with coming soon!

(By the way, I'm not a skilled seamstress so I'm sure my techniques can be improved but just sharing what worked for me 🤗😅)

Let me know if this is something you'd try? ❤️

On 22 October 2022, I married my best friend! I can't believe it's been a whole year (and one day) I've been calling @2nilup my husband 🥰 We've been together for 15 years now and I simply can't and wouldn't want to imagine my life without him ❤️

DIY REFILLABLE CHRISTMAS CRACKERS 🎄🎉

I've been thinking about making refillable crackers for so many years now - I just hate the waste the disposal ones create! So I'm so excited I've finally gotten around to starting this project!

I will be sharing more details on how to make them as well as ideas for what to fill them with too so stay tuned for more but in the meantime, what do you think?

GUEST BEDROOM REVEAL 🌟

I decided on a whim, 2 weeks before we were expecting visiting family, that our guest bedroom was in desperate need of a refresh.

Well there's nothing like an impending deadline to light a 🔥 under my 🍑 and I managed to clear out the clutter, repaint the woodwork, ceilings and walls and hang wallpaper as well as restyle the room in one week 😅 (Meisha was zero help 😼)

I'm calling it Boho Vintage Victorian Grandma 😆

This wasn't sponsored in any way but the wallpaper and bedding is from @lauraashleyuk and the paint is @earthbornpaints Peach Baby - everything else I already had!

What do you think of the new look? ❤️

🔥JOIN US ROUND THE FIRE PIT! 🔥

ad | One of my favorite things to do in summer is sit around the fire pit in the evenings with a cold beer 🍻 There's just something incredibly relaxing watching those flames and embers crackle, warming yourself up and taking the edge off falling temperatures as the sun sets!

Thanks to @homefireuk they've made the whole process incredibly easy and enjoyable with their Handy Firepit Bundle which include 2 bags of kindling, 2 bags of natural firestarters and 3 large bags of kiln-dried logs 🪵 for a really great price!

No more standing around waiting for things to light properly or billowing smoke from wet wood, everything burns beautifully! ☺️ We literally sat around this for hours as the logs last so long, long after the sun set, just chatting and enjoying ourselves! 🥰🍻🔥

Do you love a good firepit in the summer?

San Sebastian photo dump - just a tiny selection 😄

We have had such a fabulous holiday to Basque Country - our first 4 days spent in the beautiful city of San Sebastian, land of pintxos, stunning architecture and some damn good wine.

A little kitchen reshuffle today so I thought I'd share 🥰

Ad 🩷 Before and after Deck makeover! 🩷

This little decked patio was looking worse for wear after a wet winter but @frenchicpaint came to the rescue with their beautiful Dusty Blush Alfresco Paint, perfect for all your outdoor projects!

The deck has been a few colours over the past few years but this is definitely the most fun and gives the whole space such a tropical vibe - even in Shrewsbury! 🏝️ 🦩🍹😄

The paint has incredible coverage and was so nice to use - I loved the tools they provided too, especially the oval brush which got into all the nooks and crannies easily!

Let me know what you think of the new colour!

So on a whim I decided to paint the bedroom pink yesterday 😅🩷

This room has been neglected for so long as I've wanted to fully redecorate for about 3 years now but there are always other bigger priorities or a lack of time/energy/money so I keep putting it off 🙃🙃🙃 (tell me I'm not the only one) but happily this didn't cost a penny as I used what I already had although it did take me the best part of a day!

I went through my paint stash and found that I had extra @coatpaints Percy from when I did the living room early last year -- well I'm not one to let something this good go to waste (honestly this paint is absolutely wonderful to work with and has amazing coverage) and my goodness it's just so pretty in here 🥰 I also moved my pink curtains from my office into here and the whole room just glows!

I might actually be able to live with the mural a little longer until the room gets the attention it deserves! Let me know if you like the change ♥️

*For those who are wondering, it used to be white walls and I had grey curtains! 😅

ad How to De-stress at Home in 6 Simple Steps 😊

April has been #stressawarenessmonth and so I've teamed up with the wonderful @frenchbedroom to share a few simple tips in creating a cosy sanctuary at home!

Finally managed to get the gallery wall completed in our hallway!

I couldn't have been happier with @violajayphotography capturing our little intimate wedding in October and knew as soon as I saw the photos I had to print them for our home! I admit, I've never been one to hang photos but it's probably because all we ever had after 14 years together was selfies 😂🤷🏽‍♀️ I'm so pleased we finally have some lovely shots of us together 🥰

Do you have photos of you/your partner/your family up around your home?? 🤔

✨These little vintage copper pans needed some TLC! ✨

After searching for a while for vintage copper pans, I found these on eBay - they looked quite grim on the ad but I knew they could be shined up nicely! A little @barkeepersfriend later (not an ad!) and I'm loving how they look in my kitchen 🥰

Oh hey living room, nice to have you back ☺️

I always feel very ready to remove the excess of Christmas decor pretty much as soon as the 26th arrives but I've been later than usual this Twixmas as we've both been unwell the last couple weeks 🤦🏽‍♀️ Nevertheless, I've managed to get things packed away and I styled this little faux arrangement today for my coffee table so ya know, small victories 😄🙌🏽
