In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight…
You’re singing it, aren’t you? Of course you are. You’re welcome.
As promised, I did a little bit of a styling / faffing session recently with a product I was offered for review by Out There Interiors. Oh yes, that land of rather awesome furnishings and accessories that I introduced on Friday is back but this time, I wanted to show off their wares in my own home.
I’ll say before we even begin that this fabulous hanging chair will be going into my future office – there’s a perfect spot right next to the window that’s earmarked for it but I was so eager to show it off that it’s temporarily in my living room while the little hoop chairs are hanging out in my bedroom. As is always the case, when you are working on one room in your home, it seems that chaos effects every other space in the home… except that this time, I actually don’t mind!
I decided to create my own interpretation of the Jungle Trend which will be pretty popular this year (I talked about this trend more here) but I didn’t want to go out and buy a bunch of new things just to do this post so I basically just borrowed a lot of the bits and pieces around my home (mostly plants!) to create this look.
I think using furniture that is normally meant to be outdoors or in a conservatory is a perfectly acceptable way to break some design rules. Rattan and open weave just add another texture to a space and as long as the piece has interesting lines, then why can’t you use it indoors?
Now I do love a good houseplant so to create that sort of jungle look, I used a number of plants to surround the chair but of course, I had to get a little bit of glam in there so a brass elephant and my little brass table were added to the mix.
I also used a leopard print cushion (is there ANYWHERE this cushion doesn’t look great? I need like 10 of them) and my Chiang Mai dragon cushion here too because the big blooms of the pattern reminded me of more exotic locations (both cushions are from Stuck on Hue).
If you have a leopard print cat that can add to the jungle look, then by all means you should use that in your styling as well. Here the Bengal stalks it’s prey, it’s eyes fixated on the next thing it will pounce on… (probably my foot or an imaginary enemy or a piece of dust).
So that’s how I created my ‘Jungle Look’ using this fabulous chair – how would you have styled yours? And do you ever use outdoor furniture inside?
Disclaimer: I received the hanging egg chair from Out There Interiors free for my review but as always, all opinions, images and words are my very own. I only share companies and products that I love and think you will love too! Thanks for supporting the brands that support Swoon Worthy.
You did good work on this jungly corner, but it’s Meisha who pulls this all together and makes it sing! :D
Haha! She does have a tendency to steal the limelight!! ;) xx
Serious hanging chair envy here and I totally think every jungle look needs a cat or two or three.
I was trying to get Pablo to play the part of the panther but he was having none of it!! lol xxx
Once more you did wonderful job! Love the floral pillow together with the leopard. Your style is incredible!!! Wish you a wonderful week :)
Aww thanks Christina! Hope you’re having a wonderful week yourself ;) xx
love it! such a relaxing and cozy peaceful nook with all of those plants!
You are so good with all of your plants. They add so much to the room!
Beautiful. Must make you very happy to snuggle up there.
I love the way you styled yours – we have a similar one at our beach house in the master bedroom and love the texture and fun that it adds to the space!
Oh a hanging chair in a bedroom sounds like a fab idea! Totally agree, they are so much fun ;) xx
Tooo Fab!! are you sure you don’t want to keep it there??? It just looks sooooo great there…
Ha! Well, every time I get something for the future office, it ends up being adopted by a different room! I need to save something for that space or I’ll just end up with an empty room lol xxx
I have. That. Chair. It is amazing. I keep it outside during the summer and move it indoors for the winter. Living in Canada means that it probably resides inside longer than outside. But no matter. It is so cozy and calming. You just sit and swing a bit, and feel the stress melt away. Amazing.
And love the new look. Better late to the party, then never right?
It is SO nice to swing on, agree – so much more relaxing than I’d thought!! And thank you! Absolutely – fashionably late is never a bad thing ;) lol Thanks Ramona xx
OH, love this! Sam wanted one for his room makeover and it came down to a teepee or hanging chair and he chose the teepee. We just couldn’t fit both. I can’t wait to see your office! xoxo
The teepee was SUCH a good choice though! Hell, if I could fit a teepee in this living room, I probably would ;) xxx
How fun is this. I want a hanging chair for my porch soooooo bad. I love how happy and full of life this area is!
