As I spoke about last week, I’ve decided to give the bedroom a bit of a seasonal switch up for the Autumn/Winter season. I want to get this completed pretty quickly and so it’s merely a matter of swapping out the really colourful items with soft, textural neutrals that can form the basis for adding colour a little later.
This, I realise, may feel like a bit of departure from my normal style. As you are probably aware, I’mΒ a colour lover but I wanted toΒ challenge myself toΒ create an equally exciting ‘eclectic boho glam’ space without lots of different colours. I want to create a bedroomΒ that is warm and inviting just by utilising lots of pattern and texture – my absolute favourite way to use neutrals.
My intention is to neutralise the space and then layer various textiles to warm everything up and bring in some plants to add some life and colour. This will also give me more flexibility for adding colour later on. As you know, I have this constant need/sickness for change so with a neutral base, I can change up the accessories, bring in some different colours when I choose to, and have a whole new look whenever I like.
So while this may be a little surprising (it was surprising to me to be honest), here are a few things I’m bringing into the roomΒ to get that warm, cosy look for Autumn/Winter.
If you remember my bathroom, I approached it in a similar way. It’s still my quintessential ‘eclectic boho glam style’ but used lots of pattern and texture instead of a lot of colour. And I still love my bathroom a couple of years on so I feel confidentΒ it was a great way to tackle this space.
I’ll be sharing some of the art I’m getting for in an upcoming post and the best news is I found a wonderful source that’s incredibly inexpensive – yes! In fact, I’ll be revealing all the sources after the reveal so if you see something that catches your eye, hold tight – I promise,Β I’ll be sharing everything soon. Of course, there are still a few things I haven’t quite decided on yet but I hope to get this all completed with a nice reveal at the very start of November so trust me when I say I’m very busy behind the scenes getting this organised!
More to come on this little refresh so make sure you click that little ‘subscribe’ button at the end of the post so you don’t miss a thing!
This week will be a busy one! I am off to London on Wednesday for the launch of my friend Emily from The Pink House’s gorgeously styled bar in the River Island Style Studio on Oxford Street and then the following evening, it’s the very glitzyΒ Amara Blog Awards. Β We’re also still working away on the kitchen with Wayne finishing off the cupboards as well as the kickstands so I’ll be sharing those really soon. Plus, I visited a brand new Manchester shop I know you’re going to love. Lots in store for the coming weeks!
In the meantime, what do you think of the direction for the bedroom? Is it crazy how neutral it’s going to be?! Eeek! I’m a little scared but it’s fun to push yourself out of your comfort zone from time to time, right??
That bathroom makeover you did just never gets old – still love it! Can’t wait to follow along with the bedroom redo. Have fun in London and good luck at the awards! You get my vote, 100%! xx
Aww thank you so much lovely! That means a lot to me! Mwah xxx
Well, you’re finally coming round to my way of thinking/decorating, it had to happen eventually, it was obviously only a matter of time ;-) Ok, ok, you know I love this and I look forward to seeing the end result. Good luck at the awards, I’ll be thinking of you from the top of a mountain xo
Hahaha! I knew you’d love this one!! I was pulling it together thinking, ‘WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO ME?!’ Lol!! Thank you so much lovely and have an amazing time :) xxx
You know I’m all about textural neutrals. I can’t get enough so I’m totally loving the direction you are going with this.
I can’t wait to see what you got up your sleeve xx
Good luck in the awards, go knock em dead, and have a good weekend xxx
I’m really loving the direction you’re going, however, please don’t eliminate all the color! :) Black & white are such favorites of mine along with touches of gold and accent colors. I’m sure it’s going to be stunning as it always is in your home!
